Electronic and Print Media Employee\'s Organizational Commitment

This study examines the organizational commitment of electronic and print media employees.

Description

Organizational commitment is conceptualized in terms of the employee’s feelings of identification with, obligation to stay with, and willingness of involvement in the organizations. It is found that when job sanctification is not considered, age, type of media, department are important factors influencing the employee’s organizational commitment.

However, while adding job satisfaction into the model, we find that job satisfaction influences the employee’s willingness of identification with and involvement with the organizaiton. Age, related experiences, media type, family’s support are variables having impacts on the employee’s obligation to stay with the organization. It is also found that material rewards, education, sex, and married status are not important variables.

This study concludes that job satisfaction has an important impact on the organizational commitment of mass media employees.
