Non-traditional vegetable plants (KF-703)

Currently, the collection comprises 208 taxa, including 117 annual, 21 biennial, and 70 perennial herbaceous plants, as well as 31 cultivars and 27 selected forms. The collection represents 19 plant families, with Amaryllidaceae, Fabaceae, Asteraceae, and Cucurbitaceae among the most diverse.

The collection is used for comprehensive introduction, evaluation, and breeding studies, including the assessment of yield potential and economically valuable traits. Its broad taxonomic and biological diversity provides opportunities for selecting genotypes with specific characteristics suitable for different groups of vegetable crops, including leafy, salad, root, bulb, tuber, and fruit vegetables. The plants also represent a potential source of nutritionally valuable raw materials rich in vitamins and mineral elements.Several cultivars developed at the Botanical Garden are currently cultivated in Ukrainian farms.
