A Study of Voting Behavior in Taiwan: the 1991 Election for the Members of National Assembly (Telephone Interview)

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

This study of the 1991 National Assembly elections is a continuation of the National Chengchi University Election Study Center\'s research of the 1985, 1986, and 1989 Legislative Yuan and city mayors and county magistrates elections.

Description

We hope to further understand voting behavior and the factors which influence it. After the election, we carried out a telephone survey using the telephone numbers which respondents had provided when interviewed face to face prior to the election.

Due to constraints on our financial, human, and time resources, we selected the electorate of only the third district of Taipei City (including the Taan, Chungcheng, Wanhua, and Wenshan Districts) and the third district of Taipei County (including Sanchung City, Luchou Township, and Pali Township) as our target population. This survey adopted a stratified, systematic random sampling method. However, we used a more complex criteria for stratification than we have in the past.
