Statutes of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania, starting from 1989

The Social Democratic Party of Lithuania (LSDP) is a Lithuanian political party active since 1989. LSDP is the oldest historic Lithuanian political party, which was established in 1896.

During the first years of the restored Lithuanian state in 1918, the LSDP actively participated in political life, and after the 1926 Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) elections, it became a member of the ruling coalition. However, after the 1926 coup d'état, the activities of political parties were restricted, and in 1936 all parties were banned, with the sole exception of the Lithuanian Nationalist Union. In 1940, following the occupation of Lithuania by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, only the Lithuanian Communist Party was a legal political force.
