Listed in Harvard Dataverse

The purpose of this study was to establish a new paradigm for teacher preservice preparation for parent involvement and then to explore how a training program for parent involvement affects preservice secondary teachers' competence, attitudes, and efficacy in involving parents in their children's education.

Description

In the first year of this study, an initial paradigm for teacher preservice preparation for parent involvement was established.

The initial paradigm for teacher preservice preparation for parent involvement included five parts. Preservice teachers should: (1)have a partnership philosophy for home and school relationships; (2)recognize the changing families; (3)understand the principles of parent involvement; (4)able to implement effective strategies for parent involvement; (5)involve parent in education reform. This study also proposed an initial training framework for teacher preservice preparation for parent involvement.
