NOAA/NCEP Stage IV Hourly Precipitation Imagery

This data set contains hourly Stage IV precipitation for the continental US produced by the NOAA/National Weather Service Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service.
Description
The images have roughly 4km resolution and depict hourly total precipitation. A multisensor approach is used to obtain the observed precipitation.
The WSR-88D radar precipitation estimates are compared to the gauge reports and a bias is derived and applied to the radar field. The radar and gauge fields are then combined into the multisensor field. This data set contains imagery from the two PLOWS field phases, 6 February to 30 March 2009 and 27 October 2009 to 10 March 2010.
