The aim of this study was to assess the effect of seasonal variation on the changes of the fatty acids (FA) and triacylglycerols (TAG) composition of bovine milk fat in a non-seasonal milking system.
Description
Weekly milk samples were collected from fourteen dairy factories and pooled per week as representative samples of the average Dutch bovine milk. The sample collection started in May 2017 and finished in April 2018, resulting in a total of 52 samples corresponding to each week of the year.
The complete information and findings of this study are presented in the manuscript “Seasonal variation in fatty acid and triacylglycerol composition of bovine milk fat” by Pacheco-Pappenheim et al. (2021). The data presented in this repository are the complete results of the MALDI-TOF-MS analysis of the monthly samples (Supplementary Table S1), the database used for the summary presented in Table 4 in Pacheco-Pappenheim et al. (2021).

Additionally, we present the results of the Pearson correlation analysis that was performed between milk fat content (FAT), FA and TAG composition (both analyzed by GC-FID), addressed by Pacheco-Pappenheim et al (2021) as Supplementary Figure S1 a, b and c. The Pearson correlation analysis was divided in: a. FAT, Short-chain FA (SCFA) and all TAG, b.
FAT, Middle-chain FA (MCFA) and all TAG, c. FAT, Long-chain FA (LCFA) and all TAG.
