Description

# Vehicular emission panel for Curitiba, Brazil, 2007–2024 Data underlying the article "Air pollutants fell by two-thirds while carbon did not move: fleet growth and the vehicular source term of an urban atmosphere in Curitiba, Brazil" (Alberini and Prokopiuk). ## Contents `curitiba_vehicular_emissions_raw_2007_2024.csv` — the assembled series as collected from the primary sources, before any transformation. `curitiba_vehicular_emissions_panel_2007_2024.csv` — the analysis-ready balanced panel: 540 rows, one per year and per gas × vehicle-type unit (18 years × 30 units), with every variable that enters the models. ## Coverage Municipality of Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil.

Annual observations from 2007 to 2024. Five vehicle types (buses, light commercial vehicles, motorcycles, passenger cars, trucks) crossed with six gases (CH₄, CO, CO₂, NMVOC, N₂O, NOx). The panel is complete: no sampling, no imputation, no missing cells. ## Variables in the analysis panel `Ano` year. `tipo` vehicle type. `gas` pollutant. `unidade` the gas × vehicle-type unit, which is the level-2 identifier. `Emissao` annual emissions in tonnes. `log_emissao` its natural logarithm, the response variable. `Frota` registered vehicles of that type. `Frota_total` the inventoried fleet. `fleet_share` the share of that vehicle type in the fleet. `Consumo_Total_MWh` municipal electricity consumption. `PIB_Municipal_Mil` nominal municipal GDP in thousands of BRL. `Deflator` the annual price index used for deflation, 2007 = 100. `PIB_Real_Mil` GDP deflated to constant 2007 BRL. `Populacao_Municipal` municipal population. `pib_pc` and `mwh_pc` the per-capita quantities, with `log_pib_pc` and `log_mwh_pc` their logarithms. `trend` the long-run trend scaled to the unit interval as (year − 2007)/17. `gdp_dt`, `mwh_dt` and `fleet_dt` the detrended components, obtained as ordinary-least-squares residuals on that trend, with fleet scale additionally residualized on the detrended GDP component. `covid` an indicator equal to one in 2020 and 2021. `tipo_f` and `gas_f` the factor versions of the categorical variables, `gas_original` the source label of each pollutant. ## Primary sources Emissions: SEEG Brasil,.

Registered fleet: SENATRAN in 2021. Electricity consumption: IPARDES. Municipal GDP: IBGE.

Population: DATASUS and IPARDES. ## Notes on use Emissions in this inventory are model-based rather than measured: SEEG applies the IPCC bottom-up methodology with emission factors that stay constant within each vehicle cohort. The deflator vector is the one shared across the companion studies of this research programme; its year-on-year variation does not coincide with the December-to-December accumulation of the Central Bank of Brazil SGS series 433, and the two should not be treated as interchangeable.

Supplementary material 1 of the article reports the vector in full.
