A Changing Political System and Electoral Behavior: Research on Voting Behavior in the 1994 Taiwan Provincial Governor\'s Election

In respect to ethnic identity, we categorized \'Taiwanese\' and \'Chinese\' as the two identity orientations. As for national identity , we used \'Taiwan Independence\' and \'Chinese Reunification\' as the two ends of the spectrum . The fourth issue concerns the \'Lee Teng-hui complex\' and the relationship between mass psychology and voting behavior .

The fifth issue concerns the observation of political culture and voters\' political attitudes. Finally, the last topic concentrates on political participation, political mobilization, and personal characteristics of a candidate. We used the multiple-stage sampling method in this project .

This includes the principle of probabilities proportional to size (PPS), combined with stratified sampling and systematic sampling . In the design of the questionnaire , we used the structural questionnaire format with a few open- ended questions mainly dealing with political stance and opinions on the issue of independence and reunification.
