On June 13 and 14, 2001, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) convened an After-Action workshop to look at the deployment and functioning of its Disaster Assistance Response Teams (DARTs) which coordinated on-the-ground assessments and the delivery of U.S. Government (USG) assistance, and the 'Horn of Africa Team' (HAT), charged with coordinating the overall USG response...
The purpose for the after-action workshop was to bring together key individuals within USAID who actively participated in the response to the Ethiopia-Eritrea complex emergency, to review the specific OFDA actions and make recommendations to improve future OFDA operational activities.
