The agency conducted studies of the civil service and other merit systems in the Executive Branch to determine whether they were free of prohibited personnel practices.

Description

Sample survey data were collected from Federal employees and analyzed to evaluate the state of the merit system. This series contains response data from sample surveys conducted on a periodic basis.

Surveys concern either special topics of interest or specific segments of the Federal workforce. Sample sizes vary based on the topic and population size. Special topics include sexual harassment in the Federal workplace, whistleblowing, the career development of women, the effectiveness of first-line Federal supervisors, and career advancement and workplace diversity.

Surveys focused on specific segments of the civil service include Federal personnel specialists and their role in personnel management, the general attitudes and experiences of Senior Executive Service employees, attitudes and experiences of mid-level employees, surveys of new and exiting employees, surveys of current and former supervisors, and contracting officer representatives. This data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC).
