Peptide-based nanoformulation co-delivering carvacrol, β-caryophyllene, and brevifoliol A for allergic rhinitis therapy

Listed in NCBI GEO

Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a common inflammatory disorder of the nasal mucosa, and current therapeutic options remain limited.

Description

This study investigated the therapeutic potential of a novel peptide-based nanoformulation co-delivering three bioactive compounds from Centipeda minima—carvacrol, β-caryophyllene, and brevifoliol A—in a rat model of AR. AR rat models and nasal epithelial cells were treated with the nanoformulation, and RNA sequencing was performed to profile transcriptomic changes.

Our results demonstrated that the nanoformulation significantly alleviated AR symptoms, reduced nasal inflammation, and modulated the expression of key inflammatory genes. This study provides a potential new strategy for AR therapy and offers a transcriptomic resource for understanding its mechanisms of action.
