Through his profession he witnessed the deportation of Jews to Westerbork. In one case he was the train driver. The interviewer asks about the moral dilemmas of these transports and how much people knew or what they were aware of.

The interviewee talks at length about the 'war days' in May 1940 (10 May -15 May, 1940) when he fought as a soldier in the Dutch army at Alblasserdam and Dordrecht.
