Eutectic systems embedded within implantable matrices for improved postsurgical wound management and recovery

This thesis systematically investigate<br>THEDES from fundamental principles to clinical translation for post-surgical drug delivery.<br>Mechanistic studies elucidated the role of hydrogen bonding, glass-forming ability, and composition in THEDES formation and stability, while revealing a thermodynamically preferred "THEDES point." Polymer compatibility was examined leading to practical formulation guidelines and a novel thermal quantification method.

These insights enabled successful incorporation of THEDES into implantable polymeric matrices with tunable mechanical and release properties. A biorelevant simulated peritoneal fluid was also developed to enhance in vitro-in vivo correlation.<br><br><i>Thesis embargoed until 31st July 2031</i>
