Description
Why do females mate with more than one male?—Insights from longterm research. Journal of Mammalogy 94:731-744.
All data from single Rankin Ridge Colony at Wind Cave National Park, South Dakota These BTPD data are from 1983 through 1995. These are the years when I examined BTPD females shortly before or shortly after end of mating season. Scars = number of scars and fresh wounds observed during handling Most fresh wounds and scars were on face, but some where on flank or leg Year = single year for which female scars were recorded shortly before or shortly after end of mating season.

These data used for Fig 19.15 in Hoogland 2026. This file ready for longterm storage on 17 May 2025. This file has no information on eartags or Nyanzol markers for BTPD individual identities.
