TNSmart Lightning Nowcast Dataset

It distinguishes between cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-ground lightning through unique icons, where the icon colors indicate the recency of lightning (ranging from 0-30 minutes) and the colors on the block underneath signify the intensity of cloud-to-ground flashes (No, Low, Moderate, High).

Additionally, the dataset provides lightning polygons to depict areas affected by varying intensities of lightning activity, classified into three levels (Low - Level 1, Medium - Level 2, High - Level 3 (DTA)), and lightning cell tracks to measure storm activity levels in flashes per minute, categorized into ranges from 0 to over 50. An advisory section offers insights into significant weather activities, like the example mentioning no notable lightning or thunderstorm activity in Tamil Nadu, making this dataset a vital tool for weather forecasting and emergency preparedness, aiding in the mitigation of lightning-related risks.
