World War II Prisoners of the Japanese Data File

The organization utilized a team of volunteers to compile these records from the series "Records of World War II Prisoners of War, 1942-1947" (ARC Identifier 583428), the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor (ADBC) registration cards, Roger Mansell's web site "Center for Research: Allied Prisoners of War (POWs) Under the Japanese," unit rosters, and other sources. The organization compiled these records to provide NARA with more complete data on World War II prisoners of the Japane se.

This series contains information on military personnel and a few civilians who were prisoners of the Japanese during World War II. The series includes records principally derived from the series "Records of World War II Prisoners of War, 1942-1947" (ARC Identifier 583428) and supplemented with military organization and other information. The records include name, rank, service number, branch of service, source of the information, unit information as available from parent unit to subordinate unit, and notes.
