Description
Historia Natural 15 (1): 87-95, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.15724608 Abstract. Alfredo Castellanos was a prolific Argentine naturalist who described a large number of species belonging to different taxonomic groups.
Among these species, he mentioned Toxodon belgranensis Kraglievich in 1924 and Megalonychops kraglievichi in 1943, both from the “Belgranense” beds (Late Pleistocene) of the Río Salado del Norte in Santa Fe Province, Argentina. Since then, neither species has been addressed by any author after Castellanos, nor have they been mentioned in comprehensive faunal lists. The specimen of Megalonychops kraglievichi consists of an isolated and incomplete ungual phalanx belonging to an indeterminate Megatherioidea.

Due to the lack of diagnostic features, Megalonychops kraglievichi is considered here a nomen nudum. In the case of Toxodon belgranensis, the specimen of this species could not be located. Therefore, due to the absence of illustrations, description or comparisons with other taxa this species should be regarded as a nomen nudum.
