The Effect of Perceived Social Mindfulness on Upstream Indirect Reciprocity in Cooperative Contexts: The Moderating Role of Interaction Partner Similarity

Experiment 1 employed a 2 (perceived social mindfulness: high vs. low) × 2 (interaction partner: original vs. new) mixed design, with 104 valid participants, to examine the effect of perceived social mindfulness on direct reciprocity and upstream indirect reciprocity in cooperative contexts.

Experiment 2a used a 2 (perceived social mindfulness: high vs. low) × 2 (interaction partner group similarity: high vs. low) between-subjects design, with 144 valid participants; interaction partner group similarity was manipulated using the minimal group paradigm. Experiment 2b used a 2 (perceived social mindfulness: high vs. low) × 2 (interaction partner character similarity: high vs. low) between-subjects design, with 146 valid participants; interaction partner character similarity was manipulated using a personality test.
