Description
The association with lower mortality was consistent across most subgroups. The association was strongest among patients with comorbid depression and anxiety (HR 0.57; 95% CI [0.49, 0.68]).
All 5 individually analyzable SSRIs were associated with significantly lower mortality (HR range 0.61 to 0.71). Head and neck cancer was the only subgroup in which the estimate did not favor SSRI use (HR 1.08; 95% CI [0.69, 1.68]; <i>p</i> = 0.736). Hazard ratios are from Cox proportional hazards models fitted within each subgroup; <i>p</i> values are from log-rank tests.</p> <p>(TIF)</p>
