A dataset (1987–2020) of aquaculture ponds in Hainan Island based on Landsat data

It is of great significance for the sustainable development of environmental protection to monitoring the distribution and dynamic changes of aquaculture in coastal areas. This study used 9 periods of Landsat TM/OLI data in 1987, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2018, and 2020, combined with Google earth images and field research data, to obtain a dataset of aquaculture ponds in Hainan Island during 1987-2020.

The overall classification accuracy of this dataset is more than 95%, and the data volume is 3.12MB. It can be used for analysis of temporal and spatial changes in aquaculture ponds, as well as decision support for aquaculture pond site selection, management and utilization, providing data support for the sustainable development of aquaculture and ecological environment monitoring in Hainan Province.
