Genome-Wide Transcriptomic Analysis Reveals Jasmonate-Mediated Defense Reprogramming and Glucosinolate Accumulation in Brassica rapa var. trilocularis

Listed in NCBI GEO

Jasmonates (JAs) are key phytohormones that orchestrate plant defense and developmental responses.

Description

To characterize transcriptome-wide JA responses in Brassica rapa var. trilocularis, we performed time-course RNA sequencing of mock- and methyl jasmonate (MeJA)-treated R-o-18 seedlings. Leaf tissues were collected at 10 min, 24 h, and 72 h after treatment.

MeJA induced rapid and extensive transcriptional reprogramming, including activation of defense-related metabolic pathways and suppression of auxin-responsive, cell-cycle, and stomatal-development genes. MeJA also induced ethylene biosynthesis and signaling genes and coordinately activated transcription factors and biosynthetic genes associated with aliphatic and indolic glucosinolate accumulation. These data provide a transcriptomic resource for understanding jasmonate-mediated growth-defense tradeoffs and chemical defense metabolism in B. rapa.
