The EMYSystem, of The Terra Cognita Laboratory, is an information repository supporting global turtle conservation.
Description
Their goal is to collect and provide current and historical data about turtle locations, and to help maintain the variety of turtles as part of the world's biodiversity. Unique to this site is their searchable World Turtle Database, where you can find more information about where various turtle species have been found.
The foundation of this site is a database of the location of every species of freshwater and land turtle that has been collected by a museum, private individual, or referenced in a publication. The site is a continuation of the work done by John B. Iverson in his 1992 book A Revised Checklist with Distribution Maps of the Turtles of the World.
