Jet-induced Mach stem bifurcation in three-dimensional in-phase cellular structure detonation - Supplementary material
Listed in Teesside University Research Data Repository
Description
This dataset contains interactive 3D visualizations of the detonation front structure, provided as supplementary material for the paper "Jet-induced Mach stem bifurcation in three-dimensional in-phase cellular structure detonation" by Yaroslava Poroshyna, S. She-Ming Lau-Chapdelaine, and Gabriel Ciccarelli (Proceedings of the Combustion Institute 42, 2026). The simulations were performed in a square channel accommodating half a detonation cell across its width for a 2H2+O2+2Ar mixture, using a 3D Euler solver with adaptive mesh refinement and a tuned two-step reaction model.
The visualizations were generated using Plotly and can be viewed interactively in any web browser by opening the HTML files. Figure S1 — A three-dimensional numerical soot foil obtained by tracking triple lines at each time step and following their motion over time. These trajectories outline the detonation cell boundaries, analogous to triple point trajectories on a classical soot foil.

Figure S2 (t = 44.75) — Detonation structure represented with the shock front followed by iso-surfaces of Yr = 0.1 and Yr = 0.95. The transverse waves are reflected from the side walls, while the oblique shock is about to reflect at the corner. Figure S3 (t = 46) — Detonation structure represented with the shock front followed by iso-surfaces of Yr = 0.1 and Yr = 0.95.
The oblique shock has just reflected from the corner. Figure S4 (t = 48.5) — Detonation structure represented with the shock front followed by iso-surfaces of Yr = 0.1 and Yr = 0.95. The transverse waves are located approximately in the middle of the channel.
This figure corresponds to Fig. 3, Fig. 5, and Fig. 6 in the paper. Figs. S2–S4 show the shock surface (teal) and two iso-surfaces of the reaction zone progress variable Yr located behind the shock front, where Yr = 0 means reactions have not started yet and Yr = 1 means reactions are complete.
