Studies on Neotropical grasshoppers: Estefaniacris gen. nov. (Orthoptera: Acrididae), a new Andean genus

A new genus and species of Neotropical ommatolampidines grasshoppers from the forests of the Colombian Andes are described. This new genus belongs to the subtribe Ommatolampidina (Ommatolampidini) and is distinguished from other genera mainly by its notably modified terminalia and unique genital characteristics. An updated key for the subtribe Ommatolampidina is provided, incorporating the newly described taxa and recent taxonomic changes.

Finally, the habits and diversity of these Neotropical grasshoppers are discussed.
