Systematic transcriptomic analysis enables targeted drug repurposing for neurotropic flavivirus infections

Listed in NCBI GEO

Emerging mosquito-borne orthoflaviviruses like WNV and USUV pose global health risks due to rapid spread, severe neurological effects, and the lack of approved antivirals.

Description

This study used transcriptomic and bioinformatic analyses to uncover host–virus interactions and key molecular pathways. Based on these findings, approved drugs with potential antiviral activity were prioritized, and two were selected for experimental validation.

The results highlight how integrating transcriptomic profiling with drug repurposing can accelerate the discovery of antiviral strategies against emerging viruses.
