Demographic data of Plains zebras (Equus quagga) - Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Individuals were identified from their stripe patterns and re-sighted over twice-yearly field sessions, one in the wet season and one in the dry season, from 2008 to 2019. For each sighting the programme recorded the individual's social group, age class, body condition, visually assessed pregnancy status and whether it was accompanied by a foal.

The programme was initiated and led by Patrick Duncan, and led by Simon Chamaillé-Jammes from approximately 2016. It has now ended, and this deposit is the final state of the database. We have done our best to check the dataset for errors and inconsistencies, but some may persist. - Temporal coverage: field sessions from 2008-01-23 to 2019-10-23.
