Toxicity thresholds and prediction models of combined pollution by cadmium and new pollutants in facility vegetable field soils based on different test endpoints.
Listed in ScienceDB
Description
The toxicity thresholds (ECx) of Cd and single and combined contaminants of tetracycline and imidacloprid in the soils of six different nature of vegetable farms in China were determined by using the growth of Brassica napus, the growth of the red earthworm Aedes aegypti and the soil microbial substrate-induced respiration (SIR) as the toxicity endpoints, and the quantitative relationships and prediction models between pollutants' toxicity and the main influence factors of the soils were constructed.
The results showed that the toxicity dose-effect relationship of pollutants in soil of different nature on different endpoints of the test showed an obvious S-shaped curve, for example, in cabbage, the toxicity thresholds of Cd were 0.6-8.5 mg/kg for EC10 and 4.3-14.7 mg/kg for EC50, and those of the combined contamination of Cd and tetracycline ranged from 0.1-2.2 mg/kg for EC10, and 1.5-2.2 mg/kg for EC50, and 1.2 mg/kg for EC50.

EC10 was 0.1~2.2mg/kg and EC50 was 1.2~6.9mg/kg for Cd and imidacloprid; the toxicity thresholds of Cd and imidacloprid were 0.1~3.7mg/kg and 1.4~10.0mg/kg for EC50; the toxicity thresholds of pollutants varied greatly among different endpoints of the tests, e.g., the toxicity thresholds of Cd and tetracycline were in the following order: Chinese cabbage > earthworm > microorganisms in descending order, the toxicity thresholds of the composite pollutants were smaller than those of the single pollutant.
The toxicity thresholds of Cd and tetracycline in the order of Cd > earthworms > microorganisms, and the toxicity thresholds under the condition of compound pollution were smaller than those of single pollution; the growth of Chinese cabbage showed a low-dose stimulation effect on the soil pollutants, and the maximum stimulation effect was 103%~110%; pH is the main controlling factor that affects and predicts the thresholds of toxicity of the pollutants in the soil, and the convergent prediction model based on the soil pH, CEC, and OC content can effectively predict the toxicity thresholds of the ecological risk of the compound pollution of Cd and the new pollutants in the soil of vegetable fields in the facility.
The model can effectively predict the ecological risk and toxicity thresholds of Cd and new pollutants in the soil of vegetable field.
