CH.2.2 - Percent Access To Recreational Programs

Listed in Austin's Open Data portal

This dataset shows the percentage of residents with access to recreation programs.

Description

This is a new measure that was developed for the current Citywide Strategic Plan. Increasing access to recreational programming supports healthier, more connected communities.

When residents of all ages and backgrounds can participate in affordable, nearby programs, it promotes physical and mental well-being, fosters social inclusion, and strengthens neighborhood ties. Equitable access to recreation also helps reduce barriers for historically underserved populations, creating more opportunities for youth development, intergenerational engagement, and lifelong learning.
