This study presents the identification and description of a novel species, Podospora sichuanensis, isolated from horse dung. Phylogenetic analyses of combined ITS, LSU, RPB2, and TUB2 loci indicate that this novel species forms a monophyletic clade with robust support values. In addition, Podospora sichuanensis can be distinguished from other species within the genus based on its longer conidiogenous cells.
