EDIA – Global Bird Monitoring Program of the Alqueva Dam (EFMA) Secondary Irrigation Network, block D (irrigation blocks of Alvarrão, Brinches, Brinches-Enxoé, Caliços-Machado, Caliços-Moura, Orada-Amoreira, Pias and Serpa) - Large steppe species: Great Bustard (Otis tarda) [2021-2022]

The dataset contains records of the Great bustard (Otis tarda) collected in the area of the Secundary Irreigation Network of the Alqueva Dam, block D (irrigation blocks of Alvarrão, Brinches, Brinches-Enxoé, Caliços-Machado, Caliços-Moura, Orada-Amoreira, Pias and Serpa) and a control area, performed within the General Bird Monitoring Plan of the area, promoted by EDIA, S.A. Data were collected in the spring/winter of 2021/2022.

An ad-hoc number of road transects was performed to detect the target species (in the surrounding fields) using the 550 km road net of the study area. A total of 52 contacts from the Great Bustard was obtained.
