The agency created and maintained these data as a research tool in response to requirements of government agencies, international organizations, and others who sponsored their research program.
Description
This series contains demographic and socioeconomic statistics for 227 countries and areas of the world. The IDB combines data from country sources (especially censuses and surveys) with agency estimates and projections.
The major types of data available in the IDB include population by age and s ex; vital rates, infant mortality, and life tables; fertility and child survivorship; migration; marital status; family planning; ethnicity, religion, and language; literacy; labor force, employment, and income; and households. This data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC). See the ARC catalog entry for this series for more information on this data and how to order it.
