Along the right side of the street, a workers perform various duties laying down asphalt along the curb. Closest in the foreground, a man uses a rake to spread asphalt from a steaming pile, while a second man walks towards him from farther in.

Beyond, two more men spread with rakes. Automobiles traverse the remaining street in the left distance. Houses can be seen behind the clouds of steam.
