SlCOMT1-dependent melatonin biosynthesis is required for auxin-mediated alleviation of cadmium toxicity in tomato

Listed in NCBI GEO

Cadmium (Cd) contamination severely inhibits plant growth and development by inducing oxidative damage and disrupting cellular homeostasis.

Description

Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) has been reported to enhance plant tolerance to abiotic stresses; however, the molecular mechanisms underlying IAA-mediated Cd tolerance remain largely unclear. In this study, wild-type tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum L.) were treated with Cd stress and exogenous IAA, and leaf samples were subjected to transcriptome sequencing to investigate gene expression changes associated with IAA-induced Cd tolerance.

The results provide transcriptomic insights into the regulatory mechanisms of IAA in alleviating Cd toxicity in tomato and contribute to understanding the role of hormone-mediated stress adaptation in plants.
