Replication data for Fig 14.14, BTPDs, Males, Adult body mass at mating vs weaning, 09 May 2026
Listed in data.InDoRES
I created this file from SYSTAT file = ALLMALWT.SYS, which was created on 03 Nov 1991 I assume all data in SYSTAT file = ALLMALWT.SYS were checked TWO TIMES, because I used those data for Hoogland 1995 (my first book) Note from SYSTAT output on 30 Nov 1989 indicates that this file was checked TWO TIMES
Description
Note
For Autumn weights, I do NOT use weights from August or September. All weights are from October through early December. So, for example, I have deleted MANY weights from August and September 1980.

Body mass in previous October = BTPD male body mass in October through early December before mating season Body mass during mating season = body mass just before, during, or just after mating season Body mass when juveniles were emerging from natal nursery-burrows = male body mass just before, during, or just after period with juveniles were first appearing aboveground. Body mass in previous October = body mass about 4 months before mating season.
All body masses for mating season and when juveniles were emerging are from 1984. All body masses from previous October were from September or October 1983. These data used for Fig 14.14 in Hoogland 2026.
Data in this 1984 EXCEL file are from 1984 only; cumulative data from all years were also statistically significant Adult body masses include information from 1-year olds (yearlings) and >=2-year olds Male age = number of years since first emergence from natal nursery-burrows All body masses are in GRAMS. This EXCEL file ready for longterm storage on 07 May 2025. Year = 84 = 1984 These data used for Fig 14.14 in Hoogland 2026.
I defined mating season as the time interval between (and including) first copulation and last copulation Data on the same line are from the SAME BTPD MALE This EXCEL file also contains information from October body masses, which I did not use for Fig 14.14. I created this file from SYSTAT file = ALLMALWT.SYS, which I created on 03 Nov 1989 I assume that I checked this file TWO TIMES for my first book Note from SYSTAT output on 30 Nov 1989 indicates that this file was checked TWO TIMES Blank cell or <.> means missing data.
All BTPD data from the single Rankin Ridge study-colony at Wind Cave National Park. Adult body masses include information from 1-year olds (yearlings) and >=2-year olds. Filename = Fig 14.14, BTPDs, Males, Adult body mass at mating vs weaning, 09 May 2026 Year of reproduction BTPD male age (years) Body mass in previous October Body mass during mating season Body mass when juveniles were first emerging from natal burrow-entrances Own body mass at weaning Keywords: BTPDs, Males, Adult body mass at mating vs weaning, 09 May 2026 Filename = Fig 14.14, BTPDs, Males, Adult body mass at mating vs weaning, 09 May 2026 OLD File name = BTPDS, Males, Febwts vs Weanwts, 1984, 19 Sept 2020 I created this file from SYSTAT file = ALLMALWT.SYS, which was created on 03 Nov 1991 I assume all data in SYSTAT file = ALLMALWT.SYS were checked TWO TIMES, because I used those data for Hoogland 1995 (my first book) Note from SYSTAT output on 30 Nov 1989 indicates that this file was checked TWO TIMES
