American Community Survey (ACS) Public Use Microdata Sample Files

The goals of the ACS were to provide federal, state, and local governments an information base for the administration and evaluation of government programs; improve the 2010 Census; and to provide data users with timely demographic, housing, social, and economic data updated every year that can be compared across states, communities, and population groups.

Th is series contains detailed social survey census data on households and persons who responded to the ACS. The files contain data on demographic characteristics of the respondents including sex and age, race, Hispanic origin and race, relationship, and household by type; social characteristics such as school enrollment, educational attainment, marital status, and fertility; and economic characteristics such as employment status, commuting to work, occupation, industry, and class of worker.
