Rhamphomyia bhagati Barták, Akbar, Kanturski, Wachkoo & Maqbool sp. nov. (Diptera: Empididae) is described and illustrated based on male and female specimens. The discovery marks the first record of the genus Rhamphomyia from the Kashmir Valley.

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis was carried out to elucidate the general morphology and sensilla of the male and female specimens. The species is most prevalent during April and early May. The male provides female with a nutritious prey, as a courtship gift through a series of rituals discussed herewith.
