Tricholomopsis is a genus of tricholomoid fungi, typically saprotrophic, characterized by a fibrillose to squamulose pileus, yellow lamellae, and prominent cheilocystidia. In this study, two new species of Tricholomopsis, namely T. roseorubra and T. cortinata, are described based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses of ITS – 28 S sequences. Tricholomopsis roseorubra is characterized by purplish-red, squamulose basidiomata and prominent cheilocystidia forming a sterile gill edge, whereas T. cortinata is distinguished by small basidiomata, globose basidiospores, and a well-developed cortinate annulus.

The latter represents the first record of a cortinate annulus in Tricholomopsis.
