Truck Inventory and Use Survey Public Use Microdata Sample Files

The agency conducted this survey as part of the Economic Census as mandated by law under Title 13 of the United States Code.

Description

The agency collected the data from respondent establishments, tabulated the results, and produced reports and data files. This series contains microdata from a stratified probability sample of between 100,000 and 140,000 trucks for each census.

The data include weight and type of ownership, leasing information (type, length, and options), major use and principal pro ducts carried (including percentage of time carried hazardous material), maintenance information, and equipment data (engine, transmission type, brake type, power steering, fuel conservation equipment, body and vehicle type and size class, and cab type), vehicle make, cubic foot displacement, and Polk gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) code.
