Local and Indigenous Knowledge Systems in the Peruvian Andes: Survey and systems analysis data from Huancachi and Quilcas [Dataset]

The research investigates how knowledge related to native potato cultivation and land-based food systems is produced, adapted, and reproduced within community agricultural systems.

The dataset documents relationships between ecological conditions, cultural practices, and community governance structures that shape local food systems and Indigenous agricultural knowledge. The dataset includes survey responses and coded qualitative outputs derived from participatory focus group discussions. These discussions used participatory action research (PAR) tools including visioning exercises, community mapping, seasonal calendars, decision matrices, and actor mapping activities.
