This repository contains the geometric morphometric (GMM) dataset used in: Guignet A et al. (2026) "Bridging morphometrics and Archaeogenetics: a non-destructive approach to species identification of sheep, goats and pigs based on bony labyrinth." World Archaeology 0, 1–12.
Description
(doi:10.1080/00438243.2026.2720450). The datasets comprise 3D coordinates of anatomical landmarks and sliding semi‑landmarks collected from 3D models of the bony labyrinths.
The full acquisition protocol is described in the associated publication. The dataset includes 3D coordinates of 58 complete bony labyrinths corresponding to 45 modern specimens (26 sheep, 15 goats, two pigs and two wild boars) and 14 archaeological petrous bones originating from four archaeological sites in Catalonia and Comunitat Valenciana, in Spain. The archaeological assemblage spans a chronological range from the Early Neolithic to the Iron Age.
