LCRI Water Service Line Inventory

Listed in Norfolk Open Data Portal

The 2021 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lead and Copper Rule Revisions require all water systems, including the City of Norfolk Department of Utilities, to prepare a service line inventory of both the City of Norfolk-owned and customer-owned materials.

Description

This inventory identifies the material of your service line, including if it contains lead or a galvanized that requires replacement. The City of Norfolk is proactively completing the service line materials inventory to better protect customers by expediting the removal of lead service lines from the drinking water system.

The city is employing a range of methods to investigate and verify service line materials, including historical record review, field visits, potholes, statistical analysis, and customer self-reporting. The City of Norfolk Department of Utilities is currently implementing a Lead Service Line Replacement (LSLR) Program to remove all the lead service lines in the water system. Construction for the first phase of this program will begin in 2025.
