A Context-Sensitive Framework for Assessing the Impact of Creative Newcomers in Rural Areas

The framework is designed to analyse the impacts of creative ex-urban practitioners on non-urban areas, with particular attention to how these impacts are experienced and negotiated in specific local contexts.

The framework adopts a three-dimensional approach, encompassing socio-spatial, socio-ecological, and socio-economic dimensions. These dimensions capture how creative practices contribute to place-making processes, reshape relations between culture and ecology, and connect cultural and economic value in rural settings. Each dimension is operationalised through guiding questions addressing belonging and exclusion, ecological responsibility, and local collaboration and livelihoods.
