Dataset on Seedling Regeneration and Major Functional Traits of Pinus densata in Burned Sites along an Elevational Gradient in Southeastern Tibet
Listed in ScienceDB
Description
This data set is derived from the field survey and indoor sample determination of the "4 · 14" forest fire slash of Pinus kaempferi forest in Nixi Village, Bayi District, Nyingchi, Xizang in 2020, and serves the paper "Trade off Study on Regeneration of Pinus kaempferi Seedlings and Their Main Functional Properties after Fire under the Altitude Gradient in Eastern and Southern Tibet". In October 2025, three altitude plots of 3100, 3400, and 3700 meters were set up along the coast, and survey plots were set up in each plot to investigate the growth morphology indicators of Pinus koraiensis seedlings after fire.
The number and height of seedlings were recorded, and the new density of seedlings per unit area was calculated accordingly. At the same time, samples of pine needles, fine roots, and growing soil of 1-3 year old seedlings of Pinus koraiensis were collected according to unified standards to determine the main functional traits such as specific leaf area (SLA) and leaf dry matter content (LDMC) of pine needles at different leaf ages, as well as the nutrient content and ecological stoichiometry characteristics of nitrogen, phosphorus, and other nutrients in pine needles, fine roots, and soil.

The soil measurement indicators mainly include total nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, and nitrate nitrogen; The measurement indicators for plant samples include the nutrient content of pine needles and fine roots, as well as stoichiometric ratios such as N/P. After verifying the original records, unifying the units, and checking for outliers, the obtained data were organized. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used to compare the differences in functional traits of pine needles at different altitudes and leaf ages, in order to analyze the effects of altitude changes on the regeneration, growth, and resource utilization strategies of post fire Pinus koraiensis seedlings.
