During the recent years, the process of democratization in Taiwan not only caused competition among political parties; it also introduced some type of party realignment.

Description

This phenomenon has cased the study of party identification and ethnic politics in Taiwan an important research topic. Instead of focusing on the analysis of a specific voting area or a specific ethnic group at various levels of election, most current research reports on this topic are general analysis of nation wide polling result.

It has been a long time that the election research in Penghu area has been ignored. Therefore, the purpose of this research, based on the findings of local politics in Penghu, further to analyzes voting orientation of veteran-mainlanders in Penghu. It also study the theoretic implication from the discussion of ethnic politics in Penghu.
