The agency created and maintained this series to describe the level and movement of wages in a variety of labor markets through the analysis of the level and distribution of wages by occupation and the movement of wages by occupational category and skill level.
Description
The data were used for wage and salary administration, collective bargaining, and assistance in determining plant location. Data were also used by the Department of Labor to make wage determinations under the Service Contract Act of 1965.
This series contains data on wage earnings for six major industry divisions: manufacturing, public utilities, wholesale trade, retail trade, finance, and services. Records are grouped into six tables. Tables A-1 and A-2 include the division title, number of workers, average weekly hours and earnings, first and third quartile median earnings, table and area identification, survey date, type of earnings, and type of survey.
