The agency created and maintained this series in accordance with the Education Amendments to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (P.L. 93-380).

Description

The agency used this series to develop alternative eligibility criteria for funding compensatory education under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. Data were also used to make up the formula for Title I funding allocations, demonstrate the impact of changing from poverty-based to achievement-based crite ria for Title I funding allocations, and develop an objective description at the national level of Title I funding allocations.

This series contains data from five studies related to an evaluation of changes to federal aid to education funding allocations for Title I compensatory education. Files include data on poverty, student achievement, funding allocations, the distribution of Title I funds, student development, administration of compensatory education, and other data relating to the effectiveness of compensatory education. This data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC).
