Botanical and environmental survey data from 168 Sphagnum peatlands across three climatic regions in Eastern Canada

Surveys were conducted between 1993 and 2008 across three climatic regions: the Atlantic region (New Brunswick), the Lowlands of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence, and the Northeastern Forest (Quebec).

The dataset includes information on bryophyte, lichens and vascular plant species composition and environmental variables. Habitat preferences of dominant bryophytes were characterized along key environmental gradients, including macroclimate, water chemistry, shading, and humidity.
