Hij kwam hier te werken op een tabaksonderneming. De geïnterviewde beschrijft hoe het er op zo'n onderneming, en andere, aan toe ging.
De geïnterviewde vertelt over de aanloop naar de onafhankelijkheid en vertelt over de boycot van de Nederlanderss in Indië. Tot slot gaat de geïnterviewde in op zijn terugkeer naar Nederland. De echtgenote van de geïnterviewde is ook geïnterviewd voor het SMGI-project.
