A Full-body Motion Capture Dataset for Bilateral Weighted Shank Walking

<h2 dir="ltr">Summary</h2><p dir="ltr">The dataset contains data from 13 participants (7F, 6M), walking overground at their own pace, and walking with weights (1-5 kg) attached bilaterally to their shank.</p><p dir="ltr">The dataset includes 3D marker positions, 3D ground reaction forces from 3 consecutive force plates, and EMG data from 16 muscles. We share the raw data, in the form of Vicon files (C3D), processed data, OpenSim input and result files, a data summary MAT file, and figures representing the static standing trials (anonymized) and generated data.</p><h2 dir="ltr">Included Files</h2><p dir="ltr">The included files and folders are:</p><ul><li><b>figures: </b>folder with anonymized pictures of subjects in the static pose, as well as figures of the generated data.</li><li><b>rawData: </b>folder with the raw Vicon data, including C3D files containing the raw marker, ground reaction forces and EMG data.</li><li><b>OpenSim</b>: folder with the processed marker, ground reaction forces and EMG signals, as well as the input and output files from OpenSim.</li><li><b>MAT_normalizedData.mat</b>: summary MAT-structure, containing the gait-averaged, synchronized kinematics, kinetics, ground reaction forces, joint powers, speeds and EMG signals, as well as subject characteristics.</li><li><b>EMGflags.mat</b>: summary structure of the faulty EMG signals, removed during processing.

The raw EMG data is, however, still included in the raw data.</li><li><b>grfStaticCorrection</b>: contains the correction factors used to correct the data from force plate 3 (FP3) as described inside the data descriptor paper.</li><li><b>IKerrors</b>:<b> </b>contains the (averaged) inverse kinematics and scaling RMS and MAX errors for each subject and trial.</li><li><b>matData_description.xlsx</b>: explains the structure of the summary MAT file.</li><li><b>README.md</b>: short description of the dataset.</li></ul><h2 dir="ltr">Code</h2><p dir="ltr">Code to generate the processed data files and figures, and run the OpenSim pipeline can be found on the <a href="github.com/Menthy-Denayer/Data-Processing-Public.git" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">linked GitHub repository</a>.</p><h2 dir="ltr">Citation</h2><p dir="ltr">A data paper describing the dataset is currently submitted to Scientific Data.<br>Denayer, M., Turcksin, T., De Pauw, K. & Verstraten, T.
